The Inn at Little Washington

Slightly deeper into Virginia towards the Blue Ridge Mountains and Shenandoah National Park, you’ll find the quaint town of Washington, VA. This town is perhaps best known for the hotel and restaurant, The Inn at Little Washington. Last year, the restaurant was awarded its third Michelin star making it the only culinary spot with such honors in the DMV region. Aside from the epic meal you will surely enjoy, the inn itself is adorable. While a weekend excursion won’t come cheap, it’s the perfect destination for a celebratory getaway or special occasion.

Canaan Valley Resort and Conference Center

For those who are willing to drive out another hour or two, Canaan Valley, WV offers an escape from the city paired with surprisingly excellent skiing. The Canaan Valley Resort and Conference Center is less luxurious than the award-winning resorts mentioned above, but the powdery snow and excellent winter specials make this a fantastic ski option close to home. You can rent all winter sports gear and lift tickets on site, which makes it easy to pack a small bag on Friday afternoon and hit the road before dark! This resort has a great indoor pool and hot tub and an onsite pub and restaurant to fuel up after a day on the slopes.
